Shirley Louis Salt (1916–1977) was born in Cardston and moved to Calgary in 1953. In 1965 he and his wife Vi, along with Lee Green and Kay Berreth, won the Canadian mixed doubles curling championship for Alberta.

Salt was married to Viola ____ (1919–2002). They had three children: Sharon, Ron, and Susan.
