The Gustavson House sits on the south edge of the Calgary Golf and Country Club in Bel-Aire. It is notable for having been featured in the 1961 and 1962 Allied Arts Centre house tours (see my articles on the tours in the Blog section).
THE CLIENT
Norman Edward Gustavson (1921-1969) was born in Vancouver on 4 April 1921. He received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Washington and then served in the United States Army Air Force as a pilot during the War. Following the War he moved to Alaska where he formed Wolf Creek Mining Company. In 1951 he moved to Calgary and started Gustavson Drilling Company.
Gustavson was married to Anne Louise ___. They had two children, Michael and Karen. He died on 17 August 1969 while on vacation in the Virgin Islands.
