The Texaco Building was financed by Jemp Investments, a company run by Morris Kowall, and designed by Abugov and Sunderland. In 1964, Abugov and Sunderland designed the Twelfth Avenue Building, which is a scaled-down near copy of the Texaco Building. Other projects by the Kowall-Abugov-Sunderland partnership include the Centennial Building and Edmonton's CN Tower. Today, the building is known as the Petex Building.
