EXECUTIVE BUILDING
Firm: Dominion Construction
Address: 507 3 Street SW
Date of final plans: 1953
Status: demolished circa 1976
Construction of the Executive Building was announced in September 1953. The building was a joint venture between John Cullen Gorman (1906–1958) and Stanley Melvin Paulson (1934–2009), both of whose companies became tenants. Gorman was a partner in the law firm Skene and Gorman. The firm had been founded in 1914 as Peacock and Skene, and in the 1950s George Wilbert Skene (1883–1979) was still a partner. Paulson was the president of Can-Amera Oil Sands Development Limited. The structure was designed and built by Dominion Construction of Vancouver, who a few years later built the Bentall Building. It was 56' wide and 96' deep. The Executive Building was demolished around 1976 to make way for the Canada Trust Building.
